Two more programs have been added to the St. Petersburg Musical Archive. We are happy to offer you the first of the two discs of the complete string quartets by Vadim Salmanov (1912-1978), one of the most important representatives of St. Petersburg’s school of composing. This long-expected gift to music lovers includes the first three quartets of the composer performed by the legendary Taneyev Quartet (NF/PMA 99102).

The songs to words by Vyacheslav Ivanov (NF/PMA 99103) were released jointly with the Vyacheslav Ivanov Research Center in Rome. The program contains the first recordings of the remarkable vocal cycles of the early 20th century by Nikolai Myaskovsky, Arthur Lourie, Vissarion Shebalin, and Alexander Grechaninov. The works of these Russian composers were performed by Mila Shkirtil (mezzo soprano) and Yuri Serov (piano).
